Beauty for Ashes

   Today we talked names and explained that he had a brother at home with the same name.  It would make it very confusing.  So he wanted to know what name we had thought of.  We told him about the name we found when we prayed about his name. ( He let George know that he knew about prayer and put his hands together.)  Cephas.  He liked it.  Horosho.  Good.

And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter meaning rock.) John 1:42  Cephas is the Aramaic translation and means rock.  All of Cephas' strength came from God.  And that is our new son.

Cephas John Kacirek.  When asked if he would like to keep his first name as his middle name or would he like to take his dad's middle name, he immediately said, Cephas John and then scooted up to his daddy's lap.

    Cephas (God is my strength) John (Yahweh is GRACIOUS)

His little body has suffered over the years without the proper care.   We rejoice that his infection is gone with the emergency surgery in December but we are finding as we spend time with him and looking closely that there will be some difficult days ahead with doctors.  His spina bifida has not been treated.  At 15, it really is amazing that he is alive.

We aren't sure yet for all of the reasons for why his legs are so badly traumatized.  His knees are twisted and the calf bone is severely curved.  He has swelling in odd places.  I am so anxious to bring him to a doctor.  The other leg you can't see is also twisted, only outward.

He has constant sores on his feet although they are not being pressed by anything.  Small holes on his skin are covered with an iodine by the staff.  (That is the bluegreen you see.)

     He has gained a tremendous amount of weight since being transferred to the Level 3 facility.  I cannot say enough good things about the staff there.  They have fed him five meals a day.  He is small but very heavy surprisingly.

     He is blessed.  The Lord has bestowed great expectation, joy and love upon him.  When they picked him up to carry him out he told them to take him to his mama and papa for a kiss goodbye.  I wondered if he had been dreaming of that moment all of his life.  His day has come.  He is my Cephas John.  My son.  My heart has grown again.

 God is so good to allow me to have His most precious ones.  He is good to keep me clinging ever tight to His word, to His promises.  Will you take this time to meditate through Psalm 103 with me and drink up His goodness?

Psalm 103

Of David.

1 Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3 who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
6 The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7 He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
15 The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
17 But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children
18 with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.
20 Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
who obey his word.
21 Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
22 Praise the Lord, all his works
everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.

I'm so happy to read that you are there, with your new precious son! Longing to read about your new daughter too, and really longing for pictures of them both safely home!

It is indeed saddening though to see his poor legs :-( I can't even imagine why they are in the shape they are! But I'm happy that he is properly fed!

Give Cephas a kiss from us and let him know he has an aunt and uncle and cousins who love him and can't wait to see him.
